Solid stampingby katrinalhoweNovember 14, 2020 |

Hello, Katrina here. Today I wanted to show you different ways to use solid stamps. I used the solid leaf stamps and sentiments from the Sticker Kitten Palm House stamp set.

For my first card I used inks in two different shades of greens to stamp the image multiple times on to my card. I use a stamp positioning tool to stamp solid images so I can go back over the same spot if needed and add more ink for solid smooth impressions. The leaves are rotated each time to form a random pattern.  I mixed the same inks mixed with a little water and used a paint brush to add some splatters over the background for some texture. I also did the same with some gold watercolour for some sparkle and shine. To make the sentiment strip I stamped the sentiments and heat embossed them in white. I love using multiple sentiments together and these small words are perfect for that. The all work together perfectly. I added a small strip of gold card along the bottom of the banner to compliment the gold splatters

My second card is using the same leaf stamps, only this time I stamped in black on a bright background. I started by taking a piece of watercolour card and selected Distress Inks in various Autumn colours. I put the inks on my glass mat and spritzed with water. I then pressed the card into the ink. I lifted it up and left it to dry, then added another layer in the same way, using water to move think ink around where needed. This background is made from several layers of inks. The key is to make sure you let the ink dry each time before adding your next layer. Once I was happy with the background I stamped the leaves in black ink. They are not so close together this time and I stamped in more of a pattern. Again the stamp positioning tool will help to get a nice crisp impression of the image by stamping a couple of times. Especially as this is watercolour card and it has texture. To complete the card I stamped the sentiment. I used a stamping block and only one layer of ink as I wanted the words to be more subtle.

Another way to use solid stamps is to heat embossed them. This would work well for both of the above cards designs.
Solid stamps are a great addition to your craft stash and can be used in so many ways. I hope this inspires you to give them a try.
