How to make a Seaside Dreams boat slider cardby StickerKittenAugust 21, 2019 |

Hello crafters! In this blog post I want to show you how to make this super cool boat slider card. When you pull the tab the little boat slides along the waves. How cool is that?

You will need

– Seaside Dreams paper pack
– Seaside dreams ephemera
– foam tape

No fancy dies required :)

Check out the video or follow the steps below to create the boat slider card.

Instructions

1. Cover the base of a 5×7 card blank with blue cloud paper. Next cut a panel of dark blue wave paper to 12x9cm and cut along the top to create the crests of waves. Adhere to the card and then cut a panel of blue wave paper to 12x8cm and again cut along the top waves. Put aside for now.

2. Cut two strips of white cardstock 14cm long by 2cm wide and glue together to make one thick, sturdy strip. This will be the slider tab. On the back of the blue wave panel you just cut, add two strips of foam tape across the width of the panel, about halfway down, creating a channel for the slider tab to move along. Before you take the back off the double sided foam tape, you need to cut an aperture in the channel so you can attach the boat to the slider tab next.

3. Adhere your aperture wave panel to the card and slide in the slider tab. Cut a 2.5x9cm piece of white cardstock and fold in half to make one thick strip. This is the piece that will hold the boat above the waves. Glue the boat to the top of this piece, and then using foam tape attach the bottom to the right hand side of the slider tab, which is visible through the aperture you cut. Now the boat slides along when you move the slider in and out on the left hand side. To stop it going too far either side, add a piece of foam tape at the far left and far right just above the aperture. Add a long strip of foam tape at the bottom of the card – this will support the final layer you add on top.

4. To cover the sliding mechanism cut a 12x7cm panel of light blue wave paper and cut along the waves on the top. Place this over the foam tape on the layer below to fix it to the card. To neaten the slider tab, cut a small piece of patterned paper with a rounded edge and adhere it to the tab with foam squares.

5. Add the lighthouse and cloud ephemera pieces using foam squares and then glue the sunshine in the corner, trimming it down to fit the card.

6. Stamp ‘happy birthday’ on white cardstock and trim, use a corner rounder punch top left and bottom right, and adhere to the card with foam squares.

Tip: Your measurements don’t have to be too precise – just check that everything sits where you want it to as you go and adjust as necessary.
